The most important thing in golf swing is your golf swing plane. Your swing plane will quickly dictate how well (and how consistent) you hit the golf ball. If you come into impact with a much different angle of attack than you had at address, the resulting ball flight will not be what you want.
You don’t have to come down on the exact same plane like a Nick Price or other top professionals do, but you want to be as close as possible to the same plane coming down.
I like to do drills in the mirror with tape. I take my 5 iron, get into the mirror sideways, and have my wife make a plane angle with the tape to match my 5 iron when I’m in the address position.
I think make back swings and downswing into impact trying to get close to the plane I had at address. If I do this enough, I get a very good feeling in my body of where I should be at impact.
